Filing Thresholds for 2014
If your gross income meets or exceeds the following levels and
you are under age 65, you must file a tax return in 2014:

Qualifying Widow or Widower |
$16,350 |
If you were 65 or older by the end of 2014, you can add
$1,550 to the amounts shown above for single filers or a head of household.
If one of the spouses filing jointly is 65 or older, add an extra
$1,200. If both spouses are 65 or older on a joint return, you can
add $2,400 to the amount shown, so the threshold would be $22,700.
There is no additional amount available for married filing separately.
